How crucial it is for universities to have permanent campuses

The physical facilities of a university are extremely important in the field of higher education. Even if the standard of the institution's teaching, faculty, and research should always come first, having a permanent campus is crucial for defining its character, promoting a positive learning environment, and nurturing the institution's long-term development

An institution's identity is built upon a permanent campus. The campus's design, organization, and amenities all add to the university's unique personality. The physical presence becomes a representation of the institution's dedication to providing its students with an excellent education and a supportive atmosphere.

The atmosphere in which education is provided is crucial to the learning process. Modern classrooms, libraries, labs, and recreation areas can be created on a permanent campus. These facilities were carefully designed to accommodate varied teaching and learning approaches, promote student interaction, and support group projects.

Some renowned universities in Bangladesh like Brac University did not have their permanent campus. For this reason, the students, faculty, and staff have to face many challenges in their day-to-day lives. First of all, Students are not getting enough space to do group study with their friends during their spare time, and that affects their academic performance a lot. Moreover, a busy road crosses between the university buildings there is a huge life risk for students to face a road accident while crossing the road. Furthermore, as the students face immense academic stress there is no playground for students in order to drain out their stress by participating in various sports activities.

So,It is essential for institutions to have a permanent campus. A permanent campus offers a lively learning environment, promotes research and innovation, draws talent,  and aids in local and global development in addition to providing physical infrastructure. A permanent campus is an essential step in achieving the goals of universities, which include striving for excellence and aiming to develop the next generation of leaders and thinkers. The long-lasting effects of a well-designed and well-equipped campus ripple across generations, influencing the future and leaving an imprint on the field of education.
